April Happy Planner Designs

Ah April! This month is when Spring really starts to take shape in my mind. Flowers are starting to emerge from the earth and the buds are swelling on the trees. The birds are back and they’re chirpin’ like crazy. 😊 No matter what gloom is going on in the world recently, the beauty of nature will keep coming. I’m trying to spend as much time appreciating it as I can.

With all the stay at home recommendations and every single thing on my families calendar cancelled, I’ve had more time on my hands for creativity. So, a while back I found some card stock paper that looked like distressed wood and some farmhouse stickers. Everything was on sale so I decided to get them and make a planner spread.

I knew what I envisioned would take me a lot longer than usual to create so I put it off until this week when I actually did have the time. It meant cutting the card stock to the same size as my classic size planner paper and punching in the holes. Then I needed to have boxes to write in. Not only did I not have enough boxes in my colorful boxes sticker book for this, they weren’t big enough. Sooo, I ended up making them in Microsoft Excel, printed and cut them out, then glued them on the card stock. In order to have some of the wood pattern visible I needed to make the boxes smaller than the writing space would normally be on my typical spreads. Fortunately, I don’t have as much going on right now so I don’t need as much space…hopefully. Anyway, then I added the farmhouse related stickers. I am elated with the way it turned out! 💚

For the next week of the month I went back to Florals. This one quickly became a favorite on Instagram. Everyone just loved the bright color palette. I know I’ve said before that I am not really a ‘flowers’ type of person, but what I really do like about them is that they give me the color that I like to have in my planner pages.

For the last full week of April I was drawn to pink and grey again. I also added in some rose gold accents. I looked back thru my planner and I noticed that I also did this color scheme back in December. I guess there is something about this combo that I’m drawn too.

For the last couple days of the month I’ll post that page on my May page. I’m also trying to decide if I should start posting my “After the Pens” on here since they seem to be the most popular spreads on my Instagram.

I know these days have been so challenging lately and mentally exhausting. I am not an essential worker and I worked at home most days of the week before the Illinois stay at home orders were implemented, so for me not much has changed except the freedom to shop, get out of the house, see friends and family. I hope you all are doing the very best you can in this situation. I know I’ve been trying to make the best use of the extra time I seem to have now since my calendar is largely empty of events. I hope you are able to make use of the time as well.

Be safe, stay healthy, and if you are stuck in the house like me, maybe try to get some projects done. ✅
