October Happy Planner & A5 Designs

Hello and happy October to you!  I can’t believe that Fall is here already. Although I do love the Fall colors, I kinda dread the season in a way because I know it means Winter is coming. I’m just not into the cold, snow, and ice we get here in Northern Illinois. It seems like the older I get, the more I dislike it as well. I love to be outside, but shoveling snow is not what I have in mind. 😂

Seems The Happy Planner released a new Fall sticker book this year. I must have missed a reveal or something because I didn’t even know about it until I found it at my local Michael’s this weekend. I am crazy excited with the stickers in it. I was really torn whether to use them or hoard them…lol The new sticker book is the one with the orange banner in the photo below. Sooo once I chose to use it, I decided to break out my other Fall sticker book as well. I did my Happy Planner layout and two of my weekly A5 sheets with Fall stickers this week. 🍁 I’m really liking the way they turned out. I should mention though that this spread looks so much better in person because some of the stickers have a copper foil shimmer and you just can’t see that very well in my photos.

For my work daily pages, this will be the last week I’m using the clear A5 planner cover that I found on Amazon as the custom one that I ordered a couple months ago finally arrived. It’s BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I wanted! I’ve posted some photos of it further below. So with that, next weeks photos will feature the new binder. In the meantime, I’ll hang onto the clear one and maybe rotate them now and then. I still like it and it was a great, sturdy, inexpensive option that I would highly recommend. I spoke more about it in this post if you want to check it out. Someone ordered one using my Affiliate link a couple weeks ago (thank-you!). I hope it’s working out for them as well.

This is the planner cover that I ordered from Julia on Etsy. I couldn’t find a gray A5 sized planner binder ANYWHERE, in any shade of gray. I still can’t figure out why. It’s a common color in other planner sizes, so why not A5? Well, eventually I got fed up trying to find one on Filofax, Moterm, and a few other sites, so I turned to Etsy. This planner cover was handmade by Julia, just the way I wanted it. I chose a suede cover and the pockets are either leather or vegan leather (can’t remember). It’s REALLY well made, with great stitching and a solid feel…I am thrilled with it! Time will tell how long it lasts, but if you are in the market for something you can’t find online or want to buy from a small business, I’d recommend checking out her site. The only downside to the purchase was that it took a FULL two months to get to me. She needed time to make it and then the shipping took a long time since I’m in the US and she’s in Ukraine. The shipping was largely untrackable for most of the journey, but it did get to me eventually.

Next up is a page I dedicated to the dogs we’ve loved and lost. I posted last month about how my dog past away. I still cry at least once a day when I think about him or the dog we had that past a few months before him. He’s been gone almost a month and it’s taken me this long to be able to create a dog spread, just because it upsets me so much to think about it. I miss them so much and I’m so lonely without them around. Anyway, this spread was well liked on Instagram, especially by the dog lovers. 🐾

For my daily pages I used some more Fall stickers for most of the days. So fun and I love the colors.

For the 3rd week of the month I came up with this design. Simple and not very flashy, but sometimes that is just what I need.

These photos are from my work planner this week. I know a few months ago I said I might not do much to decorate my A5 daily pages, but I enjoy looking at them all day so I’ve continued to design them as well. The Fall sticker books continue to be favorites of mine!

Sorry about the lighting inconsistency of my photos. I need to find a light box or something. I’m currently at the mercy of the daylight in one particular room of my house and whether or not the sun is bright or not as well as the time of day. 😳

Sooooo, on Saturday the 24th my family and I welcomed a new member to our pack. His arrival thru off my entire planning schedule so I never had the time to create much for the rest of the month. When I don’t have time to design my planner pages I just use them undecorated. Boring, but still functional. I do have one final design that I did for October though:

In the meantime, here’s a picture of our new pup. He’s 4 months old. We named him “Memphis” after a character from one of our families favorite movies, “Gone in 60 Seconds”. If you read my September post, you already know that we had to say goodbye to our eleven year old Dobie named Sarge. As if that wasn’t hard enough, we said goodbye to our 8 year Dobie, named Ellie, just 10 months earlier. Memphis reminds me so much of Sarge, I swear that Sarge has come back to me again. 🥰

End of the month already? I still have lots of Fall stickers to use!! 🍁🍂
