March Planner Designs

Welcome Spring! 🌷It’s absolutely my favorite season!

It’s crazy at this point in the year that I am still struggling with my planner style. I went into more detail about it back in my December & February posts. The saga continues into this month as well. While I don’t mind the variety much, however if ever in the future I need to go back and reference a day or week from the past, I will have multiple planners to look thru and that will be a pain.

For the first week in March, I went used my Cloth & Paper inserts that I had for my A5. They are from a sub box that I ordered back in August last year so they needed to be modified slightly. Having my personal planning pages, work and health/fitness pages all in one planner has been convenient, but I still struggle slightly with having less space on the smaller Cloth & Paper dashboard. I do LOVE the simple black and white, no frills C&P layout that I can use for anything I want to design them with.

If you love florals and purple, I would HIGHLY recommend the Happy Planner’s Beauty in Florals book! OMG!! Just when I thought they couldn’t make sticker books look any better, they came out with this one. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! 💜

For my work planner sheets, this is what I designed for the first week. Fortunately, I haven’t needed to make any changes to these and they continue to be helpful in allowing me to keep track of the work I need to do and then have a history of it all if I ever need to go back and review.

For the 2nd week of the month I stuck with the Cloth & Paper inserts. One thing I noticed after looking thru Instagram and Pinterest, was that not too many people decorate their C&P inserts. I mean they are intended to be neural and simple and people do use lightly colored stickers in moderation, but generally not full blown decorating like I tend to do. So maybe this could be my niche? …LOL Anyway, here’s the second week of the month…

And then my work sheets:

I did manage to find a somewhat neutral Happy Planner Dashboard just by chance at a Joann store this month. I wasn’t expecting it to be neutral and I’m not sure why I even took it off the shelf, because the cover and the rings are very bright. But, I did and was pleasantly surprised. After peeking inside, I thought “This could work!”

The problem with the “this could work” statement was that it would mean I would have to make some changes and compromises. This is the story of my life as I can almost never find EXACTLY what I’m looking for…EVER… which is why I tend to make a lot of things myself. I thought I could move the daily planner sheets to my old Homebody Happy Planner from 2020, with it’s beautiful gold rings and a more pale color palette on the monthly dividers. Forgetting, of course, that when I did that I would mess up the monthly calendar view since Happy Planner uses the divider in their planners as part of the monthly layout. Sooooo, I ended up with mismatched monthly views. This is what it looked like after I franken-planned it all.

As you can see in the far right picture above, the left side has the Homebody monthly divider and half of July 2020 while the right side has July 2021 from the new planner. Not a good look. I don’t use the monthly view in my planners, so it not a huge deal, but it is unsightly.

The next issue I had was that the new planner months didn’t start until July 2021, which didn’t help me in March. Sooo, I took the sheets from further in the planner from August 2022. The dates lined up exactly the same with March 2021, but of course that meant I’d need to cover the month and year when I designed the pages and it meant I would no longer have a full 18 month planner.  Grrr.

Soooo, after all of that, I came up with this for the last week in March:

Happy Planner dashboard layout with peach colored stickers

The Dashboard layout itself is different than it was for my previous planner so I had to make several stickers to make this most like my previous Homebody planner. This may be more work than I want to take at this point. We’ll see.

Then my work pages for the same week:

In the meantime, I ran out of the old Cloth & Paper inserts and decided to order some more. This time I ordered the undated ones to give me a little more flexibility.

That’s a wrap for March. I hope you’ll stop by in April to see what planner dilemmas I have then. 😂
